1. Please introduce yourself.

Hi, I'm puxped... and that's about it, the rest of my website (and possibly this page) can portray what I'm like...

2. How long have you been making websites?

Probably since 2021. I have some fuzzy memory of possibly having made one before then, but I can't remember that well enough to say, so 2021 is my answer.

I haven't made many websites... pretty much only this one actually, but that might change in the future, who knows...

3. And what got you into the hobby?

In 2021 I saw a fellow member of Sudomemo, who at the time was going by the name vomvompurin (or just vom) and now seems to be called hana, link to their carrd.co page and when I went there I found it so pretty that I wanted to the exact same thing right then and there and that's how version 2 was created.

I did have a website before then (version 1) but that one is gone...

4. What kind of website are you most interested in?

Mostly personal websites and blogs, I'd say. I like it when sites have lots of content that can be dug for... my website has that as well, see if you can find everything :D

5. What's your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?

I don't design websites all the time so I don't exactly have a workflow, but if I had to make one up, I'd probably have an idea for a website that I think is really cool, (make some designs, sketching it out on paper), then just start implementing it...

6. Please link to your biggest inspirations.
7. What's your favourite part about making websites?

9. Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?

I do use different layouts on some pages, but on most of them I have use my global layout.

10. How confident are you with CSS?

Pretty confident I'd say, I can do pretty much whatever I can think of with ease, even if I don't exactly use the best practices. margin-left: -400px; But I'm no master.

11. Do you know how to correctly use <dl>?

<dd>I think I do now, after using it with these questions... no guarantee I'll use it later though, I'll probably forget.</dd>

12. What is your favourite HTML element?

<p>...? or <div>? i don't know...

13. If you're making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?

Create the directory it lives in and the file it'll be accessed from, also paste my template if it uses the usual layout and style.

14. Do you know JavaScript?

I know of JavaScript and I've used it before, yes... but I don't actively use it and I haven't used it that much in the past.

15. How about PHP?

This entire website is written in PHP (and HTML ofc). If I add any functionality to my website, it'll be in PHP. I used to write my shell scripts in PHP...

I've used PHP ever since I made a website that my sister asked of me (and then never used) in 2021/2022, and fun fact: my website once ran entirely on a 2008 Dell laptop (running Windows 7) behind my bed.

16. Does your website have a theme that you stick to?

No, it's just my personal website that I do with whatever I please.

17. Are you more focused on content or design?

Unless I have an idea for a design that I really want to put into a page, content always comes first.

18. Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?

Yes, I own nehukon.de and another one that I won't mention.

19. What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites?

they're cool, I mean they're just regular websites... what else would I think of them?

20. Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?

My HTML uses non-standard tags sometimes and until recently had 2 <head> elements on all pages. Also I never add alt tags to images, even if I should...

So last time I checked, the validator screamed at me.

21. What are your opinion on buttons and banners?

I haven't thought about it much because they're usually just navigation (buttons) and eyecandy (banners), I don't know exactly that is meant by "banners" but I do have some things I call "banners" on some pages here.

They add some atmosphere, a vibe, some flair, you know?

OH WAIT, they mean link buttons, don't they... well those are very cool, I like them a lot, they're like a piece of a website that are propagated across many other websites.

22. What do you think of button walls in particular?

They're very cool, I've found so many websites through them, and I have my own here.

23. If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different?

There are a lot of other sites and site elements I want to take as inspiration but I haven't come around to yet, and some things I would like to do with my website that I haven't yet done, so I would definitely make some more whimsical designs for the homepage and some other pages, as well as some page-specific styles... but overall I'm happy with my website and I wouldn't change much.

A couple of months ago I started puting page assets in relative directories instead of the global assets folder, that way it doesn't break if I reorganise things... but I still need to move some assets into that system.

24. Are you envious of other people's websites?

Not really, there are page/site designs and some site features and stuff that I'd love to have myself... but since I could always blatantly rip them off like I did with the OlesLisp project page, I'm not really ever envious of them.

25. What text editor do you use?

For my website: VSCodium, a free/libre build of Visual Studio Code.

26. Why do you use that one?

Force of habit, I've been using VS Code for years and know how it works so why not continue using it (or something identical to it)... but now that I think about it I might switch to something more lightweight.

27. Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host?

On the same host as the website, they're right in the file structure.

28. This might not be relevant to you, but what's your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate?

I don't know enough about the situation to comment on it. I like that Nekoweb exists because it's always good to have alternatives. Also yes, it doesn't apply to me because I don't rely on either of them.

29. How much server space would you estimate your main website takes up?

I don't have to estimate, I know that it takes up almost exactly 1GB (most of that is made up of images).

30. Do you keep local backups of your files?

Yes and I have it stored as a Git repo on my server as well... the website that is. I do have backups of my important local files as well.

31. Do you prefer simple or highly visual websites?

I don't have much of a preference, though I do like things that look nice. A website can work well with little to no images or styling.

32. Do you stick to certain colours? Do you do that on purpose, or is it your subconscious?

I don't really stick to any colours in particular besides the ones that I have set as my site style, because... it's the site style, why change it if it looks good...

33. Have you ever thought about quitting? Why?

No

34. Do you have many webmaster friends, or is it a solitary hobby?

This is a very awkward question because I have no friends at all.

35. Do people in your real life know about your website?

Yes, some do, but they never look at it.

36. Do you update your website very often? How often is "very often"?

Look at the changelog to find out just how often I do!

It's not that often, I do forget about the whole thing sometimes and don't come back to it until 1 or 2 months later, but it's never in an abandoned state. I should update it more often though.

37. And the overall design, do you change that much? Why or why not?

I've had this exact global site design since 2024 (with only a few tweaks), so I'd say it's not that often that I change it, unlike some others I've seen.

38. Is your website more you-focused, hobby-focused, or outside world-focused?

My website is purely for me to selfishly advertise myself muhahaha

39. Do you do web design professionally?

no

40. If not, would you like to? And if you're comfortable answering, what do you do for work?

Not really, it seems exhausting...

I'm currently unemployed but will technically be a student again very soon.

Work is a relative term that means different things to different people and in different contexts, this website could be seen as my 'work' and so could my worldbuild, my programming projects, my software experiments and so on. Many people see employment as the only "true" kind of "work" (that should be called "work") but in reality it's so much more than that. You don't see a successful author and say "that's no true work" just because he technically wasn't paid for his writing DURING the time of writing.

Just wanted to get that out there... :D

41. Do you communicate with people by email very much?

Not very much, no, I mostly rely on instant messaging

42. Some people reject social media and use websites as a replacement. Do you keep social media outside of your website?

Yes and I do use it, though I'm a lurker for the most part and don't engage much.

43. How about instant messengers? Do you use a mainstream one like Discord or Telegram? Or something like Matrix? Do you avoid them?

I use Discord a lot, sadly I'm forced to use WhatsApp for people irl because they expect it... I have used Martix but there aren't any people to talk to because basically nobody uses it, well maybe one day.

44. Do you listen to music while you work on websites? If so, what kinds of artists?

I don't really listen to music while I work at all because it's distracting, but I sometimes play Lo-fi radios.

45. Do you keep everything you make on one website, or do you have more than one?

Almost everything is right here, I haven't been able to put all of what I have on the internet into this website because that would take up terabytes (and I'm too lazy to syndicate comments and old posts here), but mostly everything is here.

46. On a similar note, do you keep to one topic on your site, or many?

I think I already answered that.

47. Do you present your real self, or at least try? Or do you construct a persona on purpose?

If I did construct a persona I'd be a lot more confident than this...

48. Have you ever made a good friend thanks to your website?

unless anyone else considers me their friend, no.

49. Are you happy with the way HTML and CSS currently work?

haven't thought about it too much, it's ok i guess

50. What are practices that you think people should avoid?

52. Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure?

Generic structure everywhere, no sematics at all... I'm not optimising for machines and I don't know what other purpose there is other than to make it more readable for anyone who's looking at the source code...

53. Do you consider different browsers?

consider? what do you mean "consider"?
i do use different browsers sometimes but i stick to the one i'm using because it's good enough...

54. Speaking of, what's your preferred browser? Convince your readers why they should use it.

Zen browser, it supports JPEG XL! (and isn't funded by a megacorporation)

55. And what OS are you on?

Arch Linux

56. Do you have a strong opinion on that, or do you just happen to use it?

I started using it because it was cool once and I just stuck to it...

57. Are your websites mobile-friendly?

This website is mostly mobile-friendly and has responsive styling, but not all pages (ironically the home page isn't, I still have to fix that). I do not and will never optimise for mobile devices however.

58. What are your thoughts on autoplay?

it's ok but most often I mute websites that have audio playing in the back

59. What are your thoughts on webrings? Are you in any?

They're a great way to find new sites in specific niches! I am indeed in the Indieweb ring and the Retronaut webring (and I used to be in the Hotline webring with my old domain).

60. Do you have any web shrines? What do you like to see in that sort of page?

There are 2 shines on my website but I haven't done anything with those pages ever since I quickly made them in 2023. As far as I know shrines are fan pages where someone writes about what the shrine's subject means to them and/or what they've done in that fandom. I love it when they have special page designs and stuff... I'm gonna do that as well when I rework mine.

61. Are your websites "cliche", in your opinion?

no

62. What is your ideal website? Are you striving for that, or for something else?

I cannot possibly declare what an "ideal" website is or even what it would be to me... but I definitely am stiving towards creating my ideal personal website.

63. Are you an artist? Do you draw or design your own assets?

i don't think i should be giving advice

I do hard-code some things if I know I won't be needing the styles anywhere else

Yes and yes.

I collect laptops, I just love those things, but I don't collect blindly... all of them should be significant (to me) in some way.

87. When it comes to your website, who is your target audience?

Anyone who is interested in personal websites... and people who have their own.

88. Have you ever been interested in XHTML?

sure, there is one XHTML page here somewhere...

89. Do you program in general? Have you ever written a program for use with or on your website, not counting simple JavaScript?

90. Speaking of programs that help you make websites, what do you think of static site generators (SSGs)? Have you ever used one?

I have, they're very neat programs, but they take away some page control that I'd like to have, that's why my website uses PHP.

91. Do you keep a hitcounter? Why or why not?

I used to have a site-wide one, but I've started seeing it as pointless, so I removed it. My number 1 visitor on my website is myself and most of the hits were from me anyway, so why bother

92. Do you frequent forums? Which ones?

The 32-bit café forum and that's it.

93. Do you write your page content directly into the editor, or do you prepare it elsewhere, like a text document or a Word document?

I don't know and if they have said that I didn't see it

95. Are you embarrassed of your old work? Have you ever deleted everything out of shame?

Yes I am and I have deleted things before, even from my website (not much though and I don't think anyone ever saw it anyway). I try my best to make sure that doesn't happen because nobody likes dead links and deleted content, which is why I'm trying to be careful with what I share online...

96. Would you close down your website if you couldn't update it, or would you leave an archive?

As I said, nobody likes dead links, it would become an archive.

97. Do you reveal a lot about yourself on your website? Or are you more secretive?

I try not to reveal too much...

98. Are you willing to reveal who your best online friend is, and/or if they have a website?

N/A

99. And do you optimise the images on your website?

JPEG, 700px max, 70% quality... it works for most things.
