Imatal → Markup language

The primary markup language Imatal uses is Org, initially it was because I switched to using Emacs for my notes, the 'ecosystem' of which
of course uses Org and Org-mode for general note-taking and stuff...
After I got more familiar with Emacs and Org it was less about the 'ecosystem' and more about the language itself, because I started using
Emacs more as just a text editor and less of a notes app... I totally could've ditched it and gone with some random editor like Vim or Kate or
whatever.
I found that Org was a better markup language than Markdown for my purposes.
Org natively supports metadata tags, tables and embedded images, while Markdown has a bunch of different "flavours" which implement some things
because the original spec hasn't changed since it was published in 2004.
GitHub-flavoured Markdown (GFM) (and some others i guess) have all of these without having to fall back to HTML and many converters
and applications implement these features as well, but it's still suboptimal,
and the fact that HTML can be embedded directly into a document without any clear markings for a change of formats isn't my cup of tea either.
In Org, HTML can be embedded into the export by using #+begin_export blocks.
Saying that, I haven't completely given up on Markdown either, all the notes I imported from my Obsidian vault are in their original format (mostly because it would've been a hassle to convert them all by hand) and I sometimes write new notes in Markdown as well because it's better supported by editors and I get some syntax highlighting there, which I don't get with Org because it's more of an Emacs thing.
There is also Typst in there, but not a lot. I wanted to do more with it but I don't know if it's that worth it because Typst is more of a document scripting language and was designed to replace LaTeX, so if I get too far into that I'll probably end up with an overly complex configuration of imports and macros and stuff.
So basically I like Org the most and that's why I use it.
